Status Reports
  • From the 4-H Youth Development Advisor, Steven Worker
Delivering timely and relevant 4-H news is important to supporting our vibrant Sonoma 4-H community. To best meet preferred 4-H news delivery of our 4-H families, the UCCE office solicited feedback from 4-H Club Leaders in September 2016 and through a 4-H family survey in January 2017. The results are in: the majority of 4-H families prefer monthly frequency; email/blog format; and content focusing on upcoming events & deadlines, success stories & spotlights, new policies, community service opportunities, and resources/curriculum. Therefore, the 4-H newsletter will now be delivered by email/blog once per month (1st Tuesday) and focus on the content identified above. Please send information for the newsletter to Jesenia Mendoza at Jesenia.Mendoza@sonoma-county.org. Link directly to 4-H News at http://ucanr.edu/sonomanews/.

We've been having another active and successful 4-H year, and it's amazing that it's already March!  Chickenque and Fair Time will soon be upon us, so there's no stopping now!  We couldn't be any more thankful for all of the volunteers that put in countless hours to help organize and run these events in order to really make the best better!

Clover Day was a fantastic success and very much enjoyed by all that attended.  The small group discussions provided a fantastic sharing of knowledge and a great learning experience, and Temple Grandin's presence was a big hit!  Many thanks to Steven Worker for arranging this day and we look forward to repeat opportunities in the future!

All-Star and Rising Star applications have been turned in, and we couldn't be more excited for selecting the teams for the 2016-17 term.  Stay tuned for the selection day schedule!

Please don't forget that Fashion Revue applications are due March 17th, and we look forward to seeing your creativity flow on April 8th!  A big thank you to Naomi Edwards and her committee for working so hard to put all of this together!

Chickenque is right around the corner!  Tickets were given out at the Chickenque Rep meeting and we ask everyone to help make this best one ever!  Please encourage your projects to bring a booth to the Chickenque and have the opportunity to showcase all the many things we do in our great program.  We are looking forward to see all the new activities! Don't forget to order your special Chickenque T-shirts - ordering time is limited! ChickenQue Poster contest reminder– everyone should be holding their club contests in March and make sure the winners get to Council meeting in April!

Please be sure to keep all of the upcoming events and due dates on your calendar.  Time flies by so quickly and we'd hate for anyone to miss out!
