Dear 4-H Youth Delegates:
You are cordially invited to attend the 26th annual C.A.L. Conference at Walker Creek Ranch on January 22, 23, and 24, 2016.
C.A.L. is a sectional 4-H event and members from all North Central Section counties are encouraged to attend. This conference is for interested 4-M members 11 years old – 17 years old. Participants share their knowledge, exchange ideas and information, and have the chance to develop and enhance their leadership skills. Each attendee is expected to participate fully.
Registration is accepted on a first come, first served basis. Each county is allotted 15 youth delegate spaces. The Conference fee is $165 which includes room and board on Friday and Saturday, all three meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday; the cost is $175 if you would like to purchase a conference T-shirt. You must complete the following forms and turn them in to your county office to reserve your spot at the conference by November 20, 2015:
1. Registration form
2. Medical Treatment form (you also should carry a completed form when traveling on the trip)
3. State 4-H Code of Conduct
4. NCS Conference Event Rules
5. Check for $165 made payable to your County Leaders Council (or $175 to receive a conference T-shirt)
Many leadership opportunities exist both before and during the Conference. If you are interested in assuming a leadership position before the Conference you may enjoy being your county contact. The responsibilities associated with this position include conducting a county orientation prior to CAL Conference. Suggested orientation topics will be sent to you if you check the space on your registration form. You also will be the main contact from the Conference to your county if your county delegates have any questions or if the C.A.L. staff needs to contact your county. Please indicate your interest on your registration form. You can contact Elizabeth E. lqecon@pacbell.net for more information.
Another leadership opportunity available is serving as a cabin leader. We ask that all cabin leaders have attended C.A.L. Conference at least one previous C.A.L. Conference and be in the 8th grade or above. As a cabin leader you will be responsible for ensuring everyone in your cabin gets to know each other, is aware of each day's events and are on time to all activities. If you are interested in a cabin leader role please indicate it on your registration form. There will be a training held for this position on January 2, 2016 10:30am to noon in Fairfield at the UCCE office. You can contact: Camilla T. at mycamibear@gmail.com or Jesse O. at jesseosman23@gmail.com for more information.
We also ask that you consider being a workshop presenter for the C.A.L. Education Program. Each session will be offered 5 times for 50 minutes. A training workshop for presenters is being offered on Saturday January 2, 2016 from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. in Fairfield at the UCCE Office. Contact workshop coordinator Lianna W. linna.webber99@gmail.com for more information.
We hope that you are excited about the Conference and that you consider accepting a leadership role. Thanks in advance for being a part of this innovative Conference. We know that you will benefit and have much to share upon returning to your own county and club.
If you have any questions about the registration form or the Conference, please don't hesitate to contact the co-chairs.
