Happy New Year to all! I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season and is looking forward to the adventures that 2017 will bring! Baby, it's been cold outside…so I hope you all have been staying warm. That being said, it's not always easy for others to stay warm and dry…no matter what the season. Please keep in mind that Missy Pendleton of Goldridge 4-H is still collecting items for her drive, “It's Raining Cats and Dogs”. These items will be put into survival packs and handed out to the homeless on cold, wet winter nights. Shari Skaife is also collecting items for the Countywide Survival Gear Clearinghouse, which is a program of the Sonoma County Task Force for the Homeless. Donations for these worthy causes will be accepted at CCC meetings through May, but sooner rather than later is key during these bone-chilling nights. C.A.L. (Create a Leader) Conference is January 27th, 28th and 29th. It will be another incredible leadership weekend for our young teens. If you are planning on attending, let us know. We would love to have you report on your experiences at our February CCC meeting. I would like to encourage you to participate with a speech, demonstration or presentation at Presentation Day. It's the perfect venue to share interests, experiences and knowledge with your fellow 4-Hers. The event takes place on Saturday, February 4th at the 4-H Center. We encourage all members to try and complete one of the presentation areas this year and to work toward their bronze, silver, gold or platinum star. It will help develop public speaking skills. Let's take some extra time and talk it up at our club meetings. Entry forms and detailed information are online, and entry forms must be postmarked by January 11th. As we begin the uphill climb that is 2017, please keep in mind that... We all get the exact same 365 days. See you soon! - Amanda Our next CCC meeting is Tuesday, February 7th, 2017, 7 pm at the 4-H Center. |
