Everyone is invited to attend the Sonoma County 4-H Achievement Night, "Go for the Gold." The Sonoma County All-Star Team invites you to join them for a fun filled Achievement Night! Dress like your favorite Olympian or 4H appropriate attire!
- 4-H's State Leader's Forum
Dear volunteers,On November 11-13, Sonoma County will be hosting the 4-H State Leader's Forum at the Flamingo Hotel. 4-H volunteers from all over the state of California will be attending. Each county is asked to donate something for the auction.Since our county is hosting, we would like to put together an extra-special donation bundle of goodies to showcase Sonoma County. Would you be able to donate a locally made product to go with the theme…”Welcome to Sonoma County.”? Some Ideas are: a bottle of wine, jam, honey. Special Recognition Opportunities at State 4-H Presentation Day
California 4-H offers thematic recognition pins for youth who participate at State 4-H Presentation Day and focus their presentations on one of the four focus areas. California 4-H Presentation Manual (Version 2016)
Significant revisions to the 4-H Presentation Manual were made in October, 2016 based on data gathered from the 2016 State Presentation Day and public feedback gathered through an online survey in June, 2016. Significant revisions include:
- Recalibrating the scoring key to ensure better distribution of awards between red, blue, and gold.
- Improving weighting on the evaluation forms, including middle points.
- Providing additional clarification on references, visual aids, and costumes.
- Allowing only evaluators to ask questions

Property Needed for 4-H Animal Project
Property needed in Rincon Valley, Kenwood, Calistoga Road area for 4-H market pig project. My kids have been raising pigs for 7 years at someone else's property and unfortunately for us, her business is expanding and she needs the space we were using. A new one-day volunteer development event for 4-H volunteer leaders in Sonoma, Marin, and Napa counties. The focus is to support skill and relationship building between fellow 4-H volunteer leaders for both project-specific areas as well as other 4-H topics to help improve youth engagement and learning. Keynote speaker is Temple Grandin!
- Global Beach Clean-Up September 17, 2016
This year's Global Beach cleanup was very fun. We found over 100 small pieces of plastic, along with three bird carcasses and lots of broken crabs. Sadly, we didn't find as many odd objects as I hoped for, I think the craziest things were three dead birds and a flip flop. I also enjoyed the lunch that they served after the cleanup. In prior years we have scheduled camping trips around the beach cleanup. We would go the beach Friday night and stay through Sunday. We would play at the beach and play some board games, and then go to the cleanup Saturday morning. I enjoy when we have challenges for who could find the craziest stuff. In my opinion the craziest things my club has found are a shotgun shell and a beached seal. In general, I'm excited for next year's beach cleanup. - Conan Skaife,Wild Oak
