The University of California's Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) seeks an experienced, innovative and collaborative communications and marketing expert to lead its communication and outreach efforts, transforming UC ANR from the university's best kept secret to a well-known, valued service. UC ANR is home to UC Cooperative Extension, California's UC 4-H Youth Development Program, UC Master Gardener Program, UC Integrated Pest Management Program, UC California Naturalist and many other programs that are respected and beloved by their clientele.
 
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, the Communications Director will create collaborative processes and lead strategic and integrated communications and marketing activities that support and elevate understanding and appreciation of UC ANR's public value. Serving as a member of UC ANR's leadership team, the director will drive branding efforts, craft messaging that enhances organizational success, lead the integration of communications efforts across UC ANR offices to ensure all are working in coordinated and strategic ways, and advise leaders and academics on media, public relations and crisis management.
 
Working with the Publications and Information Technology teams, the Communications Director will be key to strong information flow between academics, programs, administration, the UC community, and the broader California citizenry.
 
Responsibilities include creating an internal and external communication strategy and leading efforts to demonstrate UC ANR's public contributions; working closely with the Director of Government & Community Relations and the Development Services Unit; supervising a team of media, publications, internal communications and Spanish-language media and Latino community relations professionals; and developing strong, constructive relationships with external stakeholders, UCOP and campus personnel.
 
The Communications Director will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
