The Community Education Pest Management Specialist 2 (CES2) will perform the full range of program implementation duties.  Incumbent will be responsible for the management and continuation of the pesticide update class, 5-week class held in the fall and spring of each year.  The class provides CA DPR-approved continuing education units for growers, PCAs, and applicators.  Main duties include:  coordinate speakers, maintain participant and speaker database, submit necessary information to CA DPR and CECPM, promote through mail/email/website, and collect payments.

UC Cooperative Extension in Merced County has provided a bi -annual continuing education (CE) service to the local farming community for approximately 4 decades. This service, a spring and fall series of presentations in pesticide use, regulations and safety is a joint effort in cooperation with 4 Central Valley County Agricultural Commissioners.  On average, these combined fall and spring CE meetings provide training to over 90 agricultural professionals.  Recent events have required special adaptations for this position to a virtual program to comply with Covid-19 social distancing restrictions for safety.

Incumbent will build and maintain an informal network of partners and maintain subject matter competence.  The UCCE Merced County Director provides general supervision, with assistance from the Office Manager.

This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
