About Match.Graze

Match.Graze Launches to Reduce Fuel & Feed Livestock

In the wake of the devastating wildfires that have affected California in the past few years, many municipalities adopted stringent weed abatement & fire code enforcement policies. This has led to a demand for cost effective, practical vegetation management services such as contract grazing. UCCE Sonoma developed a STATEWIDE PROGRAM that we would like you to share with your landowners, ranchers, grazing operations and agencies with public owned lands:

Match.Graze: matchmaking grazing animals with grass and rangelands.

This is for landowners who need grazing services and for those with livestock or a grazing service looking for grazeable land. The Match.Graze program connects landowners and grazers.

This website is a map of California with pins representing landowners who would like grazing services and livestock owners who provide grazing services. And it is free!

A message for your landowners, ranchers, grazing operations, and agencies with public owned lands:

UCCE is excited to announce a new STATEWIDE tool to match grazers with landowners: Match.Graze. A free online service that allows users to find their perfect grazing match is now Live!

Match.Graze is an interactive database of contract grazers and landowners. People such as yourself will create profiles with information about land you have available for grazing, or herds for hire. That information will be associated with a marker pinned on a map of California. Users will be able to search the markers to find a contract grazer or available acreage to suit their vegetation management needs.

Follow these instructions to register and create a pin(s) (we recommend doing this on a computer rather than a phone):

  1. Watch How to Use Match.Graze
  2. Create your account
  3. Create a pin!

Helpful hints:

  • It is recommended to not try to set up a pin on your phone.
  • Click on the blue "GEOCODE USING THE ABOVE ADDRESS" and the map will put a pin on that spot. You can then drag the pin to a 'general location' if you don't want it at your actual address.
  • Add ONE picture if you'd like (e.g. logo of business, of your livestock, etc).
  • If you have grazing land visit definitions of grazing in the About section of the site for types if unsure.
  • For public owned lands: a brief explanation of your process and a link to the requirements should be added to “Additional Information.”

With your point on the map, users will be able to find you and reach out via the Contact Owner button associated with your pin - you will receive an email via Match.Graze and can then contact the interested party. NOTE: Users will not have access to your contact information. You will need to respond to them.

We are so excited to bring this app to the state of California to help grazers and land managers find their perfect match and to spread the benefits of grazing.
