Event Details

Growing consumer interest in local, sustainable food production and increased preference for fresh, organic products has been linked to the rising numbers of small-scale farms. One of the most recognized challenges faced by small-scale livestock producers is the lack of access to technical information and veterinary oversight.

As part of the UCCE’s commitment to helping build a more resilient community and natural resources we are collaborating with UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and local veterinarians to provide information regarding animal health and husbandry, including:

  • Antibiotic resistance and use on small-scale livestock operations
  • Prescriptions now required for anti-microbials administered to animals
  • Effects of fire on livestock
