The Hopland Research & Extension Center (HREC) located in Mendocino County provides land, labor, and facilities for University researchers in the areas of animal science, range and wildlife management, public health, and plant sciences. The Center is one of nine within the UC Agriculture and Natural Resources. It encompasses 5,358 acres and houses 7 University staff, the Roderick Shippey Field Laboratory and Education Facility. The Center serves some 25 active research projects, and the unit has the responsibility for all maintenance and repair for the facility.
Under supervision, keep area and facilities of the Research and Extension Center clean and orderly; use equipment such as lawnmowers, gas powered trimmers, blowers, buffers, and perform other related work.
Clean stables, barns, pens, and paths occupied by sheep and dogs; remove soiled straw and spread fresh straw in animal stalls; feed
animals in accordance with a given schedule; assist in basic tasks such
as mowing, raking, weed trimming, and leaf clean-up; keep facilities,
restrooms, buildings, and equipment clean and orderly; assist in the
set-up, removal and storage of chairs, tables, and other equipment.
Open Center buildings and facilities and assist tenants regarding use of
equipment and facilities; perform routine public contact work; and perform other related work.
Promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
