Small Farm Community Education Specialist (CES 1) - Santa Clara

The Community Education Specialist 1 (CES1) will assist the Small Farms Program in Santa Clara County with bilingual educational outreach and program evaluation, and assistance with record-keeping to Asian and small-scale farmers. This includes becoming familiar with grants, loans, rebates, and other agricultural programs (USDA, PG&E, etc.) that could benefit small farmers in Santa Clara County.

The CES 1 will provide technical information and translation as needed to Asian farmers. This includes assisting with extension workshops and follow-up farm site visits aimed at helping the farming communities assess what agricultural assistance programs they could qualify for. Other activities include assisting Asian farmers with the development and maintenance of record-keeping systems, assisting with data collection, and assisting in the production of informational videos on topics such as food safety, pesticide safety, drip irrigation, and integrated pest management.

This position includes communication to clients in Cantonese through translation, presentation and one-on-one communications. This CONTRACT Position will end on 10/30/2019. Extension beyond this date is contingent on securing new grant funds.
