Join this Annual Citizen Science Project

What is involved?

Unless otherwise noted, participants will:

  • Attend a one-hour training
  • Collect samples independently
  • Return samples during daylight hours to a collection box at the training location by Sunday, April 28 at 5pm.

Thursday, April 25

   5:30PM 

  • Petaluma Community Center, 320 N McDowell Blvd, Petaluma

Saturday, April 27

   9:00AM-1:00PM

  • Galbreath Wildlands Preserve in Mendocino County. Meet at the Yorkville Post Office, 25400 CA-128, Yorkville CA 95494              
    • The group will collect samples together during the event on-site at the preserve
    • Must bring a 4 wheel drive vehicle, or park at the post office then be a passenger in another vehicle that will drive up to and within the preserve
    • Children (age 17 and under) MUST be accompanied by a legal guardian or a group leader who can legally take on that role (e.g. girl Scout group)
    • You will receive an email regarding a half hour of preparation to do at home

  • Sonoma Valley Regional Park13630 Sonoma Hwy, Glen Ellen, CA 95442 *you will receive an email regarding a half hour of preparation to do at home
  • Spring Lake Park Environmental Discovery Center, 393 Violetti Road, Santa Rosa. Use park entrance at Violetti Road, upper parking lot; doors open at 9AM
  • O'Reilly Media Inc., 1005 Gravenstein Hwy N., Sebastopol

Sunday, April 28

   9:00AM-12:00PM

  • Fairfield Osborn Preserve, Lichau Rd, Penngrove 94951
    • The group will collect samples together during the event on-site at the preserve
    • Children (age 17 and under) MUST be accompanied by a legal guardian or a group leader who can legally take on that role (e.g. girl scout group)

This meeting will provide all of the information and supplies you need to participate in this citizen scientist project. More about the SOD Blitz.
