Volunteer with the 4-H Afterschool Clubs!

CAL 4-H Afterschool Clubs need your help! Afterschool programs are growing rapidly in Sonoma County, helping youth learn about science, life skills, sports and community service.

Volunteers can take three roles in Afterschool Clubs

PROJECT LEADERS:

Prior to project meetings, staff will train project leaders on the project's lesson plans
Project Leaders guide students through discussions and hands-on learning activities
Project Leaders will work with teen or adult partners and will work as a team to create a fun and positive learning environment for youth
Projects take place one day a week, typically for two hours after school ends
Project Leaders must be 15 years or older.

CHAPERONES:

Chaperones are adults older than 21 years of age who will be present during afterschool programs. Chaperones will supervise activities and will be in charge of taking attendance and signing youth out during afterschool projects.

CLUB LEADERS:

Club Leaders help 4-H staff manage club matters and club meetings.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Chaperones and Project leaders must complete at least one cycle (6 weeks) of volunteering
All volunteers must go through an orientation of 4-H policies.
All volunteers over the age of 18 must submit a fingerprint background check.
All Project Leaders must attend a Project Leader Training every 2 months.

If you are interested - email our Afterschool Coordinator with your name and number and we'll find a school nearby and get you started in the process of becoming a 4-H Volunteer!
